Statement from the Chief Executive
Gloria Elliott OBE
“The Noise Abatement Society’s aim is to share a better understanding of what sound is, what it does to us and how we can solve noise problems in a pragmatic and sustainable way to improve health, wellbeing and quality of life for all.
Through the free UK noise helpline, NAS can give advice and listen to the public’s concerns which form the basis for all the Society’s campaigns.
NAS works closely with manufacturers to encourage the production of quieter goods, with academics and scientists to identify the issues and research possible solutions, and with government to change policy and effect change.
The NAS cannot transform the human condition, but it can offer practical ways to support those who wish to exercise choice in an otherwise noisy world and is at the heart of many projects and campaigns which aim to improve and appreciate our global Soundscape.
The NAS charitable foundation is supported only by voluntary donations, so please give what you can to help NAS’ important work to improve our aural environment now, and for the generations to come.
There are several ways you can contribute your valued support: by making a donation on our website, by remembering the NAS in your will, or by becoming a member of the Society.
Annual NAS membership is £25 and a lifetime membership is £350. Click here to download a copy of the membership form.
Whichever way you choose, every contribution to the NAS is used carefully and efficiently to best advance the charity’s aims and is always very gratefully received.
